On our road to Zhukovsky we visited another
airfield - Bykovo, changed into a giant
parking lot. We came early enough to be among first taken by buses
to the salon.
There were also some old but interesting planes to be photographed
there
- it seems there are no empty airfields in Russia.
As it happens when the show is on the military
ground, all guests were taken into Zhukovsky by special buses.
Anyway, it gave us an opportunity to have a look at the outskirts
of the airfield. Unortunately we were on the wrong side of a bus
to photograph a museal collection near the main entrance - I saw
even IL-102 there.
Watching air demonstrations was difficult
because of the sun. To make good photos
of flying planes we should spent some hours near the southeast
end of a runway - difficult thing a bit because of Moscow hot
weather (different from hot weather I used to know). Fortunately
static display was just as interesting - or maybe even more...
We left an hour and a half after closing time
- using another exit,
the one near Ilyushin OAO, as one can tell by the planes standing
there. Just a step further was a bus stop taking guests to a railway
station.
Promised Sukhoy Regional Jet I found only
on a great MAKS billboard near the Red Square.
